Perfect excursion from Alexandria or the North Coast all the way to Ras El Hekma.

Day Trips in 4x4 vehicles into the Qattara Depression visiting the uninhabited oasis of El Moghra & sand boarding on the endless dunes of south of the Oasis.

The Qattara Depression, is considered by some to be the greatest depression in the world, it is certainly the largest. It was not until the 20th century that the extent of the depression was defined. Even now the history of the area is still obscure, major caravan, and smuggling routes traversed its area protected from the colonialists on the north coast.  The depression extends for 300 km (187miles) east to west and 145 km (95miles) north to south at its widest point. It is bordered by high scarps on the north and west. Qattara at 60 to 134 meters (192 to 428 feet) below sea level it is one of the lowest places on earth. The southern border of the depression is lined with beautiful endless sand dune formations.

- El-Moghra oasis, situated in the eastern corner of the depression, it is located in a desolate but magnificent stretch of desert. There is a lake and 5 water wells dug in the 1840s at the behest of Egypt’s ruler Mohammad Ali. Scientists have found lots of fossils in the area including fish, reptiles, and mammals. One of the dominant features of the area is the scattered heaps of petrified wood left along the shore line of a prehistoric sea.
